Yoga has become one of the best workouts to help you lose weight, get in shape and maintain good health. In fact, yoga is one of the most popular non-sport activities in the world. Who doesn’t want to be healthier? But unlike other popular activities, yoga is not just a physical workout. It’s a workout that requires mental strength as well.

Yoga has become one of the most popular forms of exercise around the world and it is no surprise, considering the incredible benefits it can have on your body and mind. The health benefits we can get from practicing yoga include: improved strength and flexibility, increased energy levels, stress management and relaxation, improved mental health, increased mobility, and even weight loss.

Yoga was once an exclusive practice reserved only for advanced yogis. Today, it’s a worldwide phenomenon that inspires people of all ages and walks of life. Yoga has become a multi-million dollar industry, and yet there is still controversy around the practice. People focus on the out-of-shape bodies, the long lines, the yoga fads, and other mischaracterizations of the practice. Unfortunately, these myths and stereotypes prevent people from trying it out.

For almost 30 years we have been observing the evolution of the practice of yoga and those who practice it. We’ve learned that whatever the reason people choose to exercise in the first place – for fitness, flexibility, stress relief, strength – the reason they go to the gym is often not the reason they choose to stay there.  Because the beauty of yoga is that it’s an endless journey in search of balance….. literally and figuratively. Manduka was founded on the simple idea that the best yoga mat can make a difference in the world.  And that the joy of yoga can help create a more positive world. What started as a simple mat has grown into a collection of equipment to guide you every step of the way, without distraction, so you can focus on your practice and not the products. To inspire and empower everyone to experience the transformative power of yoga. We believe that yoga is for everyone, and that no matter who you are or why you choose to practice yoga, Manduka will fulfill you with innovation, education, and an inclusive community that allows you to experience and share the transformative power of yoga. Frequently Asked Questions

Is yoga suitable for everyone?

When a friend of mine asked if I would be interested in adding Yoga to my fitness routine, my first thought was, ”sure, why not?!” But then I paused and thought about how much yoga had helped me in the past. I’ve always been a bit ‘squishy’, but yoga has made a noticeable difference in my flexibility and strength. In my mind I was a bit like a meat head; my body was the kind of meat that I would serve to my guests – I had a bit of meat around my belly, but not much else.  So, when I decided to join a local yoga class, I was surprised at how flexible and strong my body felt within the first class. My joints felt the least of my There are plenty of experts today that claim yoga is for everyone. However, yoga is not for everyone. It’s not because it is physically or mentally difficult, though it can be both. It’s not because it is hard to practice, though it can be. The reason it’s not all in the name of yoga is because it is not for everyone.

How can I get better at yoga fast?

I’ve been practicing yoga for just over eighteen months now, and I’m still not very good. At all. I’ve tried a few teachers, studied a lot of yoga philosophy and watched a lot of instructional videos. I’ve practiced at home and in studios. I’ve questioned my practice, struggled to get the “hang” of it, and then given up and gone back to what I felt was a more “stable” version of yoga: running. Throughout the course of many years, I have tried to develop the skills to do a yoga pose correctly. I have tried so many times on so many different poses and each time I have failed. I have tried using Youtube videos and books as my guide to get better and each time I have failed. I had always been told that yoga is hard but I had not realized just how hard until I had tried it. Until one day I was reading a book on yoga and I read a paragraph on how to develop your practice. This paragraph was mentioned that I should focus on not just the poses but also the breathing and concentration. This statement lead me to a new conclution which is that I should not just focus on the poses but also the breathing
