How to Make Apple and Brie Salad with Spinach
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
Following that, cut a small baguette into 6 slices, each approximately 1/2″ thick.
Place each slice on a baking pan and lightly grease it. Bake for 5-7 minutes, or until gently crisped.
In a large mixing dish, place the spinach.
Then, in a separate bowl, mix together the olive oil, balsamic vinegar, salt, and pepper. Toss the spinach in the dressing until it is gently coated.
In a microwave-safe dish, place the Brie.
After that, drizzle with honey and top with walnuts.
Microwave for 40-45 seconds on high, or until barely melted but still stays together.
Using a knife, cut the apple into thin slices.
Place half of the spinach on each serving platter, then top with the heated Brie.
Place the apple slices and baguette slices on either side of the plate and serve.
Observations on the Ingredients
“Buy nice balsamic vinegar,” urges Ina Garten.
She is completely correct. The less expensive kinds, which are mass-produced and aged for a short time, are thin and flavorless.
In this recipe, I used Modena Balsamic Vinegar.
This thick, glossy vinegar has been stored in oak barrels for 12-18 years, and the resultant deep taste is wonderful.
The two are as different as night and day.
The beauty and taste of the Fuji Apple in this recipe appeal to me, but you may use any sort of apple.
Finally, I chose walnuts because of their health advantages, but you may use any sort of nut or leave them out altogether if you have allergies.
With the toasted baguette, you’ll still get that crispy texture.
