There are two main types of diets. The first is a low carb, high fat, ketogenic diet, or keto for short. The second is a low carbohydrate diet, also known as clean eating or the paleo diet. Both have advocates, but the ketogenic diet has more scientific evidence backing it.

The ketogenic diet is a popular weight loss diet that restricts carbs and calories, and instead focuses on high-fat, low-carb and moderate protein foods. Ketosis is a state where your body produces ketones in the absence of carbohydrates, leading to weight loss. However, despite its popularity, the ketogenic diet is only proved to work for a short period, and its effect on weight loss isn’t permanent.

How can you go off the keto diet without gaining the weight you’ve lost?

How can I stop eating keto without regaining all of the weight I’ve lost?

Jeanette That is an excellent question. What if you don’t want to stick to a keto diet for a long time but don’t want to lose all of the advantages you’ve gained?

In general, I encourage individuals to gradually increase their carb intake by a few grams at a time, and to remember that healthy carbohydrates are essential!

If you are a z. For example, if you’ve been eating 20 grams of carbohydrates per day and want to increase your intake, it may be preferable to start with 50 grams and work your way up to 150 grams or more.

Vegetables, fruits, and legumes should provide the majority of your carbs, while grains and sweets should be avoided.

While this example may not be appropriate for you, we think it demonstrates a solid approach to the subject as a whole.

Best wishes, Bret Sher, M.D.
